West wins O-D Bowl 21-14

The West defeated the East 21-14 in the 6th-annual Offense-Defense All-American Bowl on December 29th, 2011.

The East got on the board early with a two-yard run by Alabama commitment Kenyan Drake early in the first quarter but the extra point attempt failed keeping the score at 6-0.

The final score of the first-half came when the West team got on the board with a one-yard run by Ohio State verbal Warren Ball. Louisville commit Josh Appleby nailed the point after attempt to give the West a 7-6 lead with 6:24 left in the half. The West took that lead into halftime.


Grabbing the lead once again in the third quarter the East squad scored on a 6-yard run by Keith Byars with 8:31 left in the third frame.

The West squad scored on a 13-yard pass from Maryland commit Caleb Rowe to Gabriel Marks with 1:26 left in the third and then finished the scoring with a 20-yard scoring run by Auburn pledge Jovon Robinson.

Walking away with Overall game MVP honors was West quarterback Caleb Rowe who threw for 139 yards on 10 of 15 passing with one touchdown.

West Offensive MVP was wide receiver Gabriel Marks who had four catches for 38 yards and one touchdown. West Co-Defensive MVP honors went to linebacker Otha Peters and cornerback Orlando "Duke" Thomas. Peters finished with a game-high nine tackles and Thomas had two stops but came up big with a fumble recovery and interception, which led to a game-winning drive.

East Offensive MVP honors went to wide receiver Malcolm Lewis who caught a team-high three passes for 79 yards, one kickoff return for 19 yards, and two punt returns for 30 yards. East Defensive MVP honors went to defensive end Jarontay Jones who had four tackles, a half tackle for loss, fumble recovery, and a forced fumble.
