Pro Football Weekly Bestows Major Honors on O-D Alumni

Pro Football Weekly announced their year end award son Monday January 16th and gave three honors to Panthers quarterback and former Offense-Defense Bowl MVP Cam Newton.

PFW awarded Newton Offensive and Rookie of the Year honors while naming him to the NFL All-Rookie Team.

Newton finished the regular season 15th in the NFL in passing yards per game (253.2) and 4,051 total passing yards. Newton completed 60% of his passes with 21 touchdowns and 17 interceptions in his first year.

"Cam Newton was a class act when he played in our game and we are not surprised at all by the accomplishments of this young man as he showed the potential to do this and even more in the future when he was with us, "said Offense-Defense President Rick Whittier, "We are extremely proud of Newton and know this is just the first of many more honors to come during his career."
