O-D Bowl Week Update!

Cooler weather has moved in across the country but ticket sales and hotel reservations for 2012 O-D Bowl Week have been heating up! So far, O-D Bowlers and their families have sold out 3 of our partner hotels. If you want to make sure you reserve a room close to Cowboys Stadium, get your registration in NOW! The hotels we decided to work with are those closest to the stadium. If we need to reserve more, we'll have to work outward, adding time to your in-city trips. Don't wait too long!

Also, as a reminder, Youth and Junior All-American invites come with ONE ticket that is intended for the invited athlete. Family and friends wishing to attend the Bowl Games will need to purchase tickets at $25 a piece. This grants you:
  • Free parking at Cowboys Stadium
  • A tour of the stadium itself
  • A 2-day pass to the stadium so you can catch ALL the games (Youth, Junior, and Senior)
  • Entry to the Offense-Defense Convention (ODCON)
Be sure to buy yours today!

As an added note, for convenience's sake, we're offering helmet and shoulder pad equipment rental for all attendees at $60. This fee is likely less than one might have to pay to check bags during a flight and may be worth avoiding the hassle of lugging the extra gear. Let us know if this is something you want to take advantage of before supplies become limited!

Thanks for keeping up with the latest on the 2012 Offense-Defense All-American Bowl Week. Response has been unprecedentedly tremendous so far and we can't wait to see each and every one of our attendees in Arlington!

  1. Why are you charging over $100 a night when according to my reservation with the hotel they charged $65 per night

  2. There have been a couple isolated incidents of our host hotels being under the mistaken impression that a bowl athlete's parent contacting them directly was in fact doing so under the guidance of Offense-Defense Sports. The "over $100 a night" is in line with what a visitor would have to pay IN ANY CASE. The quoted $65 is the rate they are offering us, per night, due of the size of the event and number of attendees descending upon Arlington.

The disparity between that rate and what we're charging covers the cost of Bowl Jerseys, Staff, host facilities, and a litany of other costs associated with running an event of this magnitude. This is why those athletes not reserving their hotel through us are subject to a $200 fee.

This fee will be applied to customers who have accidentally reserved their rooms at the $65 rate through a host hotel directly.

  3. The hotel is charging me $400 for 7 days but you charged me $700. Why am I paying $300 more when you only require $200 per player.

  4. Can we change hotels if we booked have already booked one with you? Seeing as you have added more hotels we would like to change.

  5. Please let us know which hotel you are referring to with the $400 rate for 7 days so that we can figure out why there's a discrepancy. To our knowledge, all of our prices are well below the standard/published rack rates that the hotels have given us.

Also, yes you can switch hotels if you've already booked, but not for very much longer. Please call the office to discuss the details (843-903-1888).

  6. I am trying to put together an itinerary for my family. Do you know when the boys will need to report to UTA each day and when we can expect them to be done each day?

  7. We're working on the exact schedule right now!

  8. It is my understanding that children under 12 do not need a ticket for the event including the tour of he stadium. Is this correct?

  9. From the bowl FAQ:

You will be receiving 1 ticket per registered per player. This ticket is for them only. Children under 10 will also be given a complimentary ticket.

  14. Will teams in the youth tournament (not the O-D all stars) play on the field of Cowboy Stadium as well? Or are these games just at UT Arlington?

  15. Parents....rent the hotels yourself...o-d makes a big profit on the hotels...they try to make our like they are doing you guys a favor, but they make a deal with local hotels and mark up the price of the rooms so they can make a profit...they did the same in Myrtle

  16. After our reservation were made we have not received any confirmation through O/D nor the hotel. When I called the hotel directly they had no reservation for us in the system. We are requesting some type of guidance or confirmation number according to our hotel. A bit disheartening that is was MANDATORY to pay in full at time of reservation but receive nothing in return. Any information on this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Your son will definitely be playing in his age class, unless there is a large discrepancy in height/weight. Safety is our #1 concern so we're more interested in an athlete's overall size and aggressiveness instead of sticking to just going by the age.

The Youth National Tournament games will only be held at the UT Arlington fields.

You forgot to mention the part where it doesn't cost anyone anything to attend this event and that our hotel rates are lower than their normal rack rate.

I've explained this before and it's very frustrating to have to do it again, but here we go. O-D operates at a loss, every year, when we put on our Bowl Week events. The costs of the facilities, staff, promotion/marketing, equipment, jerseys, merchandise, etc. are astronomical, and the only way we are able to make any of it even happen (and not go out of business) is from the help of our partners and sponsors – some of which include the hotels you guys stay in.

To be clear: WE DO NOT MAKE ANY MONEY ON THIS EVENT. We LOSE (a lot of) money. From a financial standpoint that seems insane right? Well sometimes it's not just about the bottom line and we love to be able to do things that both our staff and our customers enjoy and look forward to every year.

If any of that is unclear, or if you still don't understand why a business would try to minimize its losses or try to make money, please call me (Joe) and I'd be more than happy to go over it with you

  18. I myself checked out the prices of the hotels before booking through OD and the prices through OD were way cheaper then if I went on my own. For example I paid $670.75 for the Sheraton through OD. The price through Sheraton was $877.75 and then I still would have had to pay an additional $200. Make sure you are comparing the same exact room.

  20. Will the junior all-american game be webcasted or anything?

    ReplyDelete
  21. What station will the high school game be televised on? Will there be live streaming available on the web for youth and junior like at camps?
