Myrtle Beach, SC - Each year the Offense-Defense All-American Bowl is well represented in the NFL Draft and this year will be no exception. The High School All-America game leader in 2012 Combine and Senior Bowl invites is expected to have another great draft.
"This should be another great year for O-D as the bowl gets older and more alumni enter the NFL," said Offense-Defense Director of Player Personnel Josh Buchanan, "Our staff is working hard to ensure that we continue to live up to the expectations our first three years has set and even find ways to constantly increase success."
As many as four alumni could be selected in the first round. Stanford guard David DeCastro and Georgia tackle/guard Cordy Glenn both are considered first-round locks heading into April while Georgia Tech wide receiver Stephen Hill and Georgia cornerback Brandon Boykin both have a shot at being taken in the first 32 picks and are considered locks for the second.
Oklahoma cornerback Jamell Fleming, Washington defensive tackle Alameda Ta’amu, Wisconsin wide receiver Nick Toon, Ole Miss tackle Bobby Massie, Louisiana Tech running back Lennon Creer, Texas A&M running back Cyrus Gray, California defensive end Trevor Guyton, California wide receiver Marvin Jones, and Texas linebacker Keenan Robinson are expected to be taken in the draft’s top 120 picks.
Several others are expected to go in the mid rounds such as Texas A&M wide receiver Jeff Fuller, Oklahoma wide receiver Ryan Broyles, Arizona State cornerback Omar Bolden, and California PA guard Rishaw Johnson.
Many others are considered late round or free agent types including Richmond’s Aaron Corp, USC defensive tackle DaJohn Harris, USC Christian Tupou, USC defensive tackle Armond Armstead, South Carolina quarterback Stephen Garcia, LSU quarterback Jarrett Lee, Penn State cornerback Chaz Powell, South Carolina defensive tackle Travian Robertson, Ole Miss running back Enrique Davis, Stephen F. The Offense-Defense All-American Bowl is part of the largest Youth All-American Event in the country known as Offense-Defense Bowl Week, a series of events taking place during the last week of the year that culminates in the All-American Bowl. The game has in the past seen the on-field talents of a wide swath of football stardom including Dez Bryant, Cameron Newton, David DeCastro, Cordy Glenn, Stephen Garcia, Carlos Dunlap, Derek Sherrod, Golden Tate, Rolando McClain, and Joe Haden among many others. The O-D Bowl led all high school All-America games with nine players selected to the 2012 Senior Bowl and former O-D Bowl participant Cameron Newton was the No. 1 overall pick by the Carolina Panthers in the 2011 NFL Draft, named to the Pro Bowl, and was named the AP Offensive Rookie of the Year.
