O-D Bowl becoming preeminent high school bowl game

While the U.S. Army All-American Bowl has been around longer than any other game joining Under Armour to be considered the best games, primarily due to the marketing machine created by those running them, they have officially taken a backseat to the Offense-Defense Bowl in putting players in the National Football League.

Last year O-D had the No. 1 overall pick Cam Newton and this year is expected to blow away the other games with 11 Senior Bowl invites, 22 who attended the NFL Scouting Combine, and as many as 25 who could be drafted next month in the NFL Draft.

With numbers like those it has become clear that O-D is doing something that the others just aren't.

"We are proud of the history we have despite the fact we aren't the oldest or most marketed game, "said Offense-Defense Director of Player Personnel Josh Buchanan, "We select our players a little differently and it just goes to show that our process is a successful one that finds great players."

As many as four alumni could be selected in the first round. Stanford guard David DeCastro and Georgia tackle/guard Cordy Glenn both are considered first-round locks heading into April while Georgia Tech wide receiver Stephen Hill and Georgia cornerback Brandon Boykin both have a shot at being taken in the first 32 picks and are considered locks for the second.

After O-D had 21 players at the NFL Scouting Combine including DeCastro, Glenn, Hill, Boykin, Fleming, Ta'amu, Toon, Massie, Creer, Gray, Guyton, Jones, Robinson, Fuller, Broyles, Bolden, Johnson, Harris, Tupou, Corp, Powell, and Robertson there is a good chance those and more are selected.

"O-D is about training the best and it's great to see our methods are helping players fulfill their dreams by having a shot in the NFL, "said Offense-Defense President Rick Whittier, "We wish the entire group the best of luck."
