Bowl players make headlines on Signing Day

Rivals.com four-star linebacker Otha Peters made a massive splash by changing his commitment from Tennessee to Arkansas 48 hours before signing day. Peters was his team's defensive MVP in the 2012 Offense-Defense Bowl and is the No. 6 inside linebacker in the country by Rivals.com.

Two major announcements came from the southeast starting with Rivals.com 3-star defensive end Josh Dawson from Tucker High School who switched his commitment from Vanderbilt to Georgia on Signing Day.


The other was South Carolina Gatorade Player of the Year and Rivals.com four-star wide receiver Quinshad Davis from Gaffney. His choices came down to Tennessee, North Carolina, and Wake Forest but Davis ultimately decided to go with North Carolina on Signing Day.

In the mid-east, offensive tackle Jake Meador flipped his commitment from Ole Miss and signed with Wisconsin. Vigor, AL defensive lineman Darius Philon was another who changed his choice of college by flipping from Alabama to Arkansas. Philon joins teammate JaMichael Winston in going to the Razorbacks.

Woodruff, South Carolina offensive tackle Javarius Leamon who had committed to Clemson and had several BCS offers signed with South Carolina State on signing day. Leamon becomes the highest rated prospect to sign with a FCS school this year as a four-star prospect by Rivals.com.

"Signing Day was certainly exciting as many players changed their commitment and signed with someone else, "said Offense-Defense Director of Player Personnel Josh Buchanan, "It’s why Signing Day can be so exciting."
