I want to hold off on talking about the latest developments in the NFL Labor dispute to focus on something a little more O-D centric for now and it's a big one! Two years ago, we started the Youth All-American Bowl to provide a unique opportunity and event for our top tier youth campers. So far it's been a resounding success! This year, we're proud to announce a brand new event running alongside the nationally televised All-American game: The Offense-Defense Junior All-American Bowl!
All campers ages 15-and-up at our 2011 camps will be eligible to be named Junior All-Americans and receive invites to the inaugural Junior All-American bowl. All you have to do is come to camp, bring your A-game, and perform to the best of your ability and if you stand out you might be traveling to Myrtle Beach to spend New Years with the best of the best Youth and High School football players in the entire country!
Not on board yet? Don't wait another day! Hit up the Locations page on our website before space runs out and you wind up having to spend the holidays covered in snow instead of on the beach here with us!
You should have some of the guys who have gone to your camps participate in the Sr. All American Bowl. You would probably have more campers if they had a shot at making the team. Have you ever had a OD camper that made either one of the teams?
ReplyDeleteThat's an excellent question and a very good point, Kelly. Yes, we have had 11 players (at least) from camp make the Senior Game.
ReplyDeleteAll Youth All-Americans and Junior Bowl Participants are campers, and Junior Bowl and Elite players have an opportunity to qualify for the Senior All-American Bowl.
One of the challenges that we're faced with is getting national sponsors, television contracts, advertisers, etc. To do that we have to bring in a lot of big names / high school "superstars" to attract attention to ourselves.
One day our Senior game WILL be 100% campers, but for right now we have to use names people already know to get the money from sponsors to be able to put on the event.
I hope this answers your question :)
Will participating in this not mess with a lot of kids eligibility? I know that it does for student athletes in Illinois, specifically in the sport of football!!
ReplyDeletewhat about if a kid is turning 15 that year would he be able 2 play in the All-American bowl?
ReplyDeleteso any player who wins an award at camp will be invited to the junior bowl?
ReplyDeleteMy youngest son attended the Atlanta camp. My oldest son could not attend due to a prior obligation. In order to be considered for the Junior All American game does the kid have to attend a camp or will you be accepting nominations or evaluating film?
ReplyDeleteWe will be accepting nominations from high school coaches and reviewing submitted film, but the best avenue for acceptance has been and will continue to be through our camps and combines as this give our selection committittee us so much more information on the players physical ability, technical expertise, work ethic and heart.
ReplyDeleteMy son won the award for top defensive back in his age group at the Louisville camp. He is 8 years old. Will he be invited to the the Myrtle Beach Bowl game?? Thanks.
ReplyDeleteYes! All award winners are automatically invited to Myrtle Beach!
ReplyDeleteWill the Junior All American Bowl really happen? At the Philly camp this week, one of the staff said that you were still trying to put this together. All of the states had to be contacted, etc. to determine eligibility, among other things.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely! Everything has been 100% set in motion for the Junior game. We're just trying to get all of the facts straight from all of the different athletic districts so that no one runs into eligibility issues outside of the game. It sounds a lot worse than it actually is, though, as only a few districts out of a handful of states are actually affected.
ReplyDeleteMy son won a performance award for his age group. Will he be going to the Bowl in Myrtle Beach? And I hear it might be in the Dallas Stadium what are the chances of that?
ReplyDeleteThanks
My 12 year old was placed on a high school team at camp so is he now being evaluated against high school kids? He is working very hard to get invited to the game, but is discouraged since he now feels like he doesn't have a chance since he is on a team with older and bigger kids.
ReplyDeleteI went to the Boston camp and I'm 13 but I played up with the older kids and I won the OL MVP and I was wondering if I was eligible? Or do I just go to Myrtle Beach with my age group and wait a couple years.
