Former O-D Camper Selected in Third Round

Former Offense-Defense camper Jayron Hosley was selected in the 2012 NFL Draft by the defending Super Bowl Champion New York Giants.

Hosley was taken with the 94th overall pick in the 3rd round of the 2012 NFL Draft after a brilliant career that was sparked at Offense-Defense Football Camps. He entered the NFL Draft as a junior after earning second-team All-ACC honors last season finishing with 59 tackles, three interceptions, and 12 pass breakups. Coming out of high school Hosley was highly coveted and ranked as the No. 22 cornerback in the nation by ESPN.com as a four-star recruit.

O-D to feature star studded group of NFL pros at camp

TERRELL OWENS

This year’s lineup is set to be headlined by Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald, free agent wide receiver Terrell Owens, and Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick. Fitzgerald is a six-time Pro Bowler and is 4th all-time in receiving yards per game. Owens is a six-time Pro Bowl selection as well and is 2nd all-time in receiving yards (15,934). Vick is a former #1 overall selection and four-time Pro Bowl selection.

O-D is extremely excited to also announce that Cincinnati Bengals defensive end Carlos Dunlap, an O-D Bowl alumnus, will join the group. Dunlap set the Bengals record for most sacks by a rookie (9.5).

New Orleans Saints linebacker Jonathan Vilma returns to Offense-Defense bringing his 2004 NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year, 3-time Pro Bowl, and Super Bowl XLIV Champion accolades this time.

New York Jets defensive back Antonio Cromartie, the 2007 NFL leader in interceptions and San Diego Chargers linebacker Takeo Spikes, a 1998 first-round draft pick, will also join the fold.
 
St.Louis Rams wide receiver Steve Smith also plans to attend camp as a Super Bowl XLII Champion and New York Giants single season record holder for receptions (107).

New Orleans Saints safety Darren Sharper, a five-time Pro Bowl selection and Super Bowl XLIV Champion, helps to even further bolster the lineup.

Also joining this year’s lineup is Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Mike Williams, a former 1st round selection of the Detroit Lions and 2003 Collegiate All-American.

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Brian Hartline, a 2009 4th-round draft pick, who started every game as a rookie will join the lineup as well.

Rounding out the group is Buffalo Bills running back Fred Jackson who has rushed for over 16 touchdowns and 3,700 yards in his career.

27 O-D Bowl Alumni Signed by NFL Teams

The 2012 NFL Draft has come and gone and Offense-Defense has had a record 15 draft picks and 12 undrafted players signed by NFL teams. This was a unique year in that an O-D Bowl Alumni was drafted in each of the seven rounds of this year’s draft.

The picks started at 24th overall in the first round by the Pittsburgh Steelers where they chose Stanford guard David DeCastro. He was then followed by Georgia tackle Cordy Glenn who was taken 41st overall in the second round by the Buffalo Bills.

Two more players came off the board in the second round with Georgia Tech wide receiver Stephen Hill going to the Jets at No. 43 and Oklahoma wide receiver Ryan Broyles going to the Detroit Lions with the 54th pick.

In the third round Oklahoma cornerback Jamell Fleming was taken 80th overall by the Arizona Cardinals.

He was followed by a half dozen fourth round picks led by Arizona state cornerback Omar Bolden at 101 overall by the Broncos and Washington defensive tackle Alameda Ta’amu being picked up by the Steelers at 109. The Cardinals selected Ole Miss tackle Bobby Massie at 112 overall and the Redskins nabbed Texas linebacker Keenan Robinson with the 119th overall pick. Wisconsin wide receiver Nick Toon was taken 122nd overall by the Saints and Georgia cornerback Brandon Boykin was taken 123rd by the Eagles to finish out the fourth round picks.

The Cincinnati Bengals took California wide receiver Marvin Jones with the 166th overall pick in the fifth round.

Texas A&M running back Cyrus Gray then came off the board in the sixth round with the 182nd overall pick by the Kansas City Chiefs.

The day O-D draftees finished up with two seventh round picks as the Minnesota Vikings took California defensive end Trevor Guyton with the 219thoverall selection and the Atlanta Falcons took South Carolina defensive tackle Travian Robertson with the 249th overall pick.

A dozen players were signed as undrafted free agents quickly after the draft.

Football Academy at MLK High School a huge success

Myrtle Beach, SC – The first-ever Football Academy done by Offense-Defense Sports was a huge success with many players present including two players with several BCS offers.

Highlighting the list of players is three-star Florida commit tackle Josh Outlaw. Outlaw measured in at 6’4, 268 pounds.

He was joined by three-star safety Jeremy Tyler who has offers from Louisville, Akron, Ball State, Vanderbilt, Rutgers, and Mississippi State. Tyler measured in at 6’0, 195 pounds.

“It’s always great to have players of this caliber on hand to evaluate for our bowl game, “said Offense-Defense Director of Player Personnel Josh Buchanan, “This Academy was excellent for me to even evaluate younger players who we will consider for future years to come and was made possible by the diligent efforts of MLK Head Football Coach Mike Carson.”

The camp was a huge success as the campers did combine drills such as the 40-yard dash, 3-cone, short shuttle, and more and then competed on the field for three days.

Hampton University director of player development RJ Lewis, who spent time with the Buffalo Bills, spoke to the players and their parents about the importance of character and getting an education.

“This was a great camp that has already gotten glowing reviews from parents and we are excited to have more of these after the way this inaugural one went, “said Offense-Defense Recruiting Specialist Brian Mabry, “Expect us to expand with more of these in the future.”
